OVERVIEW

It’s clear that security is not an IT issue, it’s a business priority and must be treated as such. Organizations are spending more on security in reaction to headline-grabbing cyber attacks and data breaches, new regulations, and the evolution of digital business strategy. For those of us in the cybersecurity space, it comes as no surprise that 2018 is panning out to be another strong period for venture funding. The market is seeing an uptick in seed funding and late-stage investments contributing to the ever-expanding security vendor landscape. With so many vendor buzzwords and product redundancies, it’s getting increasingly more difficult for security programs to understand what solutions are best for their environments, where to invest next, and how to measure success.

Large enterprises report having up to 70 security vendors and there are no signs of slowing down. Gartner forecasts worldwide enterprise security spending to total $96.3 billion in 2018, an increase of 8 percent from 2017.
